Lancaster is a collegiate university, meaning that each of it's students is a member of one of the nine colleges, and lives in that college.

Established in 1964, it is the oldest college at the University. It is named after the Forest of Bowland

The second college to be established, also in 1964. Named the Lune Valley

Established in 1969, using land given by the Lancashire County Council

Established in 1966, named after the Furness region

[edit] Fylde

Established in 1968, named after the Fylde Peninsula

[edit] Grizedale

Established 1975, named after the Grizedale Forest

[edit] Pendle

Established 1974, named after Pendle Village, home of the famous witch Trials

[edit] Cartmel

Established 1969, named after the Cartmel Peninsula

[edit] Graduate

As suggested by the name, the college of all postgraduate students at the university
